Pre-Purchase Car Inspection

About to buy a used car in Austin? We come to the seller's location, inspect it thoroughly, and tell you exactly what you're getting into — before you sign anything.

The service

What we do

Private-party used cars and dealer inventory sell fast in Austin. Sellers know this, and they lean on it. The pressure to decide quickly — without asking too many questions — is real. A pre-purchase inspection is how you slow that down and make a smart decision.

We come to wherever the car is — a private seller's home, a used car lot, a CarMax — and run a complete mechanical inspection. We look at the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, HVAC, electrical, and the exterior for signs of prior damage or poor repair.

You get a written report with photos. We're available by phone during the inspection if you want to ask questions in real time. And we give you a straight answer: buy it, negotiate down, or walk away.

Process

How it works at your location

01

Schedule at the seller's location

Book the inspection and give us the seller's address. We coordinate the timing and come to the car — you don't need to be there, but you can be.

02

Full mechanical inspection

We inspect the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, HVAC, exhaust, and all major systems. We check for accident damage, rust, leaks, and deferred maintenance.

03

Written report with photos

You get a detailed written report of what we found — what's good, what's marginal, and what will need attention soon. Clear enough to use as a negotiating tool.

Warning signs

Signs you need this service

You're buying from a private seller and can't verify the service history

The deal seems too good to be true

The seller is rushing you or reluctant to allow an inspection

The car has high mileage or you're buying sight-unseen

It's a European, luxury, or specialty vehicle with expensive maintenance

Why mobile

Why mobile beats the shop for this service

Most pre-purchase inspections require you to convince the seller to bring the car to a shop — which many won't do. A mobile inspection removes that obstacle entirely by going to the seller's location. It also signals to the seller that you're serious, and gives us a chance to inspect the car in its natural environment.

FAQ

Common questions

How long does a pre-purchase inspection take?

A thorough inspection takes 45–75 minutes depending on the vehicle. We don't rush — we check everything.

Can you come to a private seller's home in Austin?

Yes — this is the most common setup. We coordinate with the seller directly once you've scheduled.

Can you inspect a car at a dealer lot?

Yes, including independent dealers and large used-car lots. We'll coordinate access with the dealer.

What exactly do you check during a pre-purchase inspection?

Engine and transmission, brakes and rotors, suspension and steering, HVAC, all electrical systems, fluids and leaks, tires, and body condition including signs of accident repair or paint work.

Can I use the report to negotiate the price?

Absolutely. The report is written clearly enough to quote repair costs to the seller and use as a basis for price negotiation.
