What we fix
Common Ford problems we handle in Austin
AC stuck on hot: blend door actuators
That clicking or flapping sound behind the dash when you start the truck is the most Ford noise there is. Blend door actuators fail on the F-150, Expedition, Explorer, Fusion, and Escape — a small plastic-geared motor strips out and the air stays hot no matter where you set the dial. It's a common mobile job, and we do them in driveways all over Austin. If the air is warm on both sides with no clicking, the problem is more likely refrigerant or the compressor — we carry both R-134a and R-1234yf and diagnose before we recharge anything.
Misfires: spark plugs and coil-on-plug ignition
Two patterns dominate on Fords. On the 5.4L Triton 3-valve (2004–2013 F-150 and Expedition), the factory two-piece spark plugs are famous for snapping off in the head during removal — we show up prepared for extraction, not surprised by it. On EcoBoost engines (2.7L and 3.5L F-150, 2.0L and 2.3L Escape, Edge, Explorer, Bronco), boost pressure wears plugs faster than the maintenance schedule suggests — a misfire under load at 60–80k miles is usually plugs, sometimes a coil. We test which coil is actually dead instead of guessing.
Batteries and the Battery Monitoring System
Fords from roughly 2011 on have a Battery Monitoring System that needs a reset when the battery is replaced. Skip the reset — which most parking-lot battery swaps do — and the truck keeps managing charging for a battery that's no longer there: dim electronics, auto start-stop acting up, and a new battery that dies young. We replace the battery and do the BMS relearn properly. Alternators and starters are driveway jobs too.
Truck brakes and towing wear
F-150s and Super Duties that tow — boats to the lake, trailers to the ranch — go through pads and rotors faster than any maintenance schedule admits. We do pads, rotors, calipers, brake hoses, and fluid flushes on everything from a Fiesta to an F-350, in your driveway, with equipment rated for 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks. And if your 4x4 F-150 grinds for a second pulling away cold, that's often the IWE vacuum hubs — the 4WD engagement system on 2004+ trucks — which is also mobile work.
Cooling systems in Texas heat
Texas summers find the weak link in a cooling system — a hairline crack in a degas bottle or a lazy thermostat shows up the first week of triple digits. Thermostats, radiator hoses, degas bottles, radiators, and water pumps on Ford's V8s (4.6L, 5.4L, 5.0L Coyote) are front-of-engine jobs we handle in your driveway. We pressure test, find the leak, and fix it on-site instead of guessing at parts.

Questions
Common questions about mobile Ford repair
How much does mobile Ford repair cost in Austin?
We give you an upfront flat-rate quote before any work begins — you approve the total price, not an hourly meter. Describe the vehicle and the symptom when you book and the quote comes before the wrenches do.
Can a mobile mechanic work on my F-150 or Super Duty?
Yes. We carry jacks and stands rated for 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks and work on F-150s, F-250s, and F-350s in driveways all over Austin. Trucks are a big share of what we do.
Can every Ford repair be done in my driveway?
Most of what actually fails on a Ford — brakes, AC, charging, cooling, suspension, ignition, sensors — is accessible work we do on-site. For major internal work — head gaskets, timing jobs, exhaust, and internal engine or transmission repair — we'll refer you to a shop equipped for it, with our diagnosis in hand.
Do you have Ford-specific diagnostic equipment?
Yes. We read Ford module-level fault codes that generic OBD readers miss, and every diagnostic comes with a written report you keep.
What Ford models do you service?
F-150, F-250 and F-350 Super Duty, Ranger, Maverick, Explorer, Expedition, Bronco and Bronco Sport, Escape, Edge, Flex, Fusion, Focus, Mustang, and Transit vans. If it says Ford and the job doesn't need a lift, we can usually handle it.
Can you fix my Ford the same day?
Often, yes. Call (512) 910-5935 or book at acmeautoworks.com/book — we schedule Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, and come to your home or office.
