What we fix

Common GMC problems we handle in Austin

Sierra and Yukon AC in a Texas July

GMC trucks share GM's known AC weak point: condensers on 2014–2019 Sierras, Yukons, and Yukon XLs develop leaks, and the first symptom is a truck that cools in the neighborhood but goes warm at highway speed. Yukons add rear-zone AC into the mix — a second system that gets ignored until the third row complains. We leak-test before recharging anything, carry both R-134a and R-1234yf, and replace condensers, compressors, and blower motors in your driveway.

The clicking dash: blend door actuators

2007–2013 Sierras and Yukons are known for blend door actuators that strip their plastic gears and click behind the dash — then one side blows hot while the other blows cold. Multi-zone Yukon systems have several of them, and they rarely fail all at once. Finding the right one and replacing it is a standard mobile job for us.

V8 maintenance at 100k: water pump, plugs, coils

The 5.3L and 6.2L V8s in Sierras and Yukons hit 100k with a predictable list — external water pump starting to seep, original plugs at the end of their life, the occasional coil missing under load. All of it is accessible, front-of-engine work we do on-site in one visit.

Denali electrical loads: batteries and charging

Denali trims carry a lot of electronics, and they're hard on batteries — especially batteries already cooked by three Austin summers. A weak battery in a loaded Yukon Denali causes strange complaints long before it fails to crank: flickering screens, warning lights, features going in and out. We load-test the battery and verify charging output before replacing anything, then fit the correct battery for the truck.

Towing wear: brakes, bearings, front ends

Sierras that pull boats and trailers around the Hill Country wear brakes and hub bearings ahead of schedule. A hum that rises with speed, a wander under trailer load, uneven pad wear — we road-test, inspect the whole front end, and replace what's actually worn: hubs, ball joints, tie rods, sway bar links, shocks.

Questions

Common questions about mobile GMC repair

How much does mobile GMC repair cost in Austin?

We quote every job upfront as a flat rate — you approve the total price before any work begins, not an hourly meter. The number comes before the wrenches.

My Yukon cools up front but the back is warm — what is it?

Rear-zone AC has its own components, and on multi-zone systems a failed actuator or low charge shows up in the back first. We diagnose the whole system and fix the part that's actually failed.

Can every GMC repair be done mobile?

Most of what actually fails — AC, brakes, cooling, charging, suspension, ignition, sensors — is accessible work we do on-site. For major internal work — head gaskets, timing jobs, exhaust, and internal engine or transmission repair — we'll refer you to a shop equipped for it.

Do you work on Sierra HD trucks?

Yes — we carry equipment rated for 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks. Brakes, front ends, batteries, and cooling on 2500HD and 3500HD Sierras are regular work.

What GMC models do you service?

Sierra 1500 through 3500HD, Yukon and Yukon XL, Acadia, Terrain, Canyon, and Savana vans — Denali trims included.

Can you come today?

Often, yes. Call (512) 910-5935 or book at acmeautoworks.com/book — Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, home or office.
