What we fix

Common BMW problems we handle in Austin

Oil leaks: valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets

The signature high-mileage BMW complaint is a burnt-oil smell after driving — almost always the valve cover gasket, the oil filter housing gasket, or both, seeping onto hot components. These are the two most common BMW gasket jobs there are, both accessible, and we do them in your driveway before the leak finds something expensive to drip on.

Cooling: expansion tanks and electric water pumps

BMW cooling systems are famously the first thing to age: plastic expansion tanks grow brittle and crack, and the electric water pumps on the N52/N54-era six-cylinders are a well-documented failure that announces itself with an overheat warning — often in summer traffic. These engines do not forgive being run hot. We pressure test, replace tanks, pumps, and thermostats on-site, and fill with BMW-spec coolant.

Ignition coils and the single-cylinder misfire

A BMW that suddenly runs rough with a flashing check-engine light usually has one failed ignition coil — a known wear item on these engines. We identify the missing cylinder, test rather than guess, and replace the coil on-site; on higher-mileage engines we'll quote the full set with plugs so you can decide once instead of twice.

Batteries must be registered — really

BMWs manage charging through an intelligent battery sensor, and a new battery has to be registered to the car. Parking-lot swaps skip this, and the result is a battery that charges wrong, dies young, and causes electrical gremlins along the way. We test first, then fit the correct battery and register it properly.

Brakes with wear sensors, done to spec

BMW brakes run wear sensors that trip the dash indicator, and the rotors are commonly at their wear limit by the time the pads are — that's the engineering, not an upsell. We measure everything, show you the numbers, and replace pads, rotors, and sensors together when that's what the measurements say.

Pricing

Upfront flat-rate quotes

Upfront flat-rate quotes before any work begins — you approve the total price, not an hourly meter. Our European labor rate applies to BMW work — the specialty tools, spec fluids, and coding equipment these vehicles require are part of the job. Either way, the quote comes first and the total doesn't move after you approve it. No shop overhead, no waiting room, no shuttle.

Questions

Common questions about mobile BMW repair

How much does mobile BMW repair cost in Austin?

Our European labor rate applies to BMW work, and every job is an upfront flat-rate quote — you approve the total price before any work begins, not an hourly meter.

My BMW smells like burning oil — is that serious?

It's the classic sign of a valve cover or oil filter housing gasket seeping onto hot parts. Not an emergency today, but worth fixing before it finds something expensive. Both are driveway jobs for us.

Do you register the battery when you replace it?

Always — it's not optional on a BMW. An unregistered battery charges incorrectly and dies young. We test, fit the correct battery, and register it to the car.

Can every BMW repair be done mobile?

The high-frequency work — gaskets, cooling, coils, brakes, batteries, AC, suspension wear items, diagnostics — is accessible and we do it on-site. For major internal work — head gaskets, timing jobs, exhaust, and internal engine or transmission repair — we'll refer you to a shop equipped for it.

Do you use BMW-spec oil?

Yes — LL-spec oil and BMW-spec coolant, correct for the engine. On these cars the spec is part of the repair.

Can you come today?

Often, yes. Call (512) 910-5935 or book at acmeautoworks.com/book — Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, home or office.
