What we fix

Common Chevrolet problems we handle in Austin

Silverado and Tahoe AC: condensers and compressors

The 2014–2019 Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban are known for AC condenser leaks — the truck blows cold around town, then goes warm on the highway, and by mid-June it's just a fan. We diagnose with a proper leak check rather than topping off a leaking system, and we replace condensers and compressors in your driveway with either R-134a or R-1234yf, whichever your truck runs.

Blend door actuators: the clicking dash

GM trucks and SUVs from the 2007–2013 era — Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche — are famous for blend door actuators that strip out and click behind the dash, leaving one side blowing hot while the other blows cold. It's a plastic-geared motor, it fails on a schedule, and it's a mobile job we do all over Austin.

5.3L V8 at 100k: water pump, plugs, coils

The 5.3L V8 is a workhorse with a predictable 100k checklist: the external water pump starts seeping, the original plugs are done, and a coil or two starts missing under load. All of it is front-of-engine, driveway-accessible work. If your Silverado or Tahoe is past 100k on original everything, one visit catches it up.

Hub bearings and front-end wear

A hum that rises with speed and changes when you swing the wheel is the classic GM hub bearing, and trucks that tow or carry weight go through them. We replace hub assemblies, ball joints, tie rods, and sway bar links on-site — and we road-test to confirm which corner it actually is before selling you a part.

Cruze and Equinox cooling plastics

The 1.4L turbo Cruze runs its coolant through plastic outlets and housings that crack with age and Texas heat — a low-coolant light and a sweet smell under the hood is usually a cracked water outlet, not a head gasket. Equinoxes and Malibus have their own aging thermostat housings and hoses. We pressure test, find the actual leak, and replace the failed part in your driveway.

Griff and Max are amazing mechanics. Honest and hard working. Prices are fair and competitive. They let me know if it's a job I can do, as well. That's an honesty you don't find often anymore. I would recommend them any day of the week. Plus they come to YOU.

Questions

Common questions about mobile Chevrolet repair

How much does mobile Chevy repair cost in Austin?

We quote every job upfront as a flat rate — you approve the total price before any work begins, not an hourly meter. Tell us the vehicle and symptom when you book and the number comes first.

My Silverado's AC blows warm on the highway — what is it?

On 2014–2019 trucks, the condenser is the usual suspect — they're known leakers. We confirm with a leak check instead of just recharging it, then replace the failed part in your driveway.

Can every Chevy repair be done mobile?

Most of what actually fails — AC, brakes, cooling, charging, suspension, ignition, sensors — is accessible work we do on-site. For major internal work — head gaskets, timing jobs, exhaust, and internal engine or transmission repair — we'll refer you to a shop equipped for it.

Do you work on 2500 and 3500 trucks?

Yes. We carry equipment rated for 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks — brakes, front ends, batteries, cooling — done at your house or jobsite.

What Chevrolet models do you service?

Silverado 1500 through 3500, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, Traverse, Equinox, Blazer, Trailblazer, Malibu, Cruze, Impala, and Camaro.

Can you come today?

Often, yes. Call (512) 910-5935 or book at acmeautoworks.com/book — Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, home or office.
