What we fix

Common Volkswagen problems we handle in Austin

The 2.0T water pump and thermostat module

The EA888 2.0T that powers most modern VWs — Tiguan, GTI, Jetta, Atlas four-cylinders — has a well-documented weak point: the plastic water pump and thermostat module, which develops leaks with age and heat. The early sign is a low-coolant warning or coolant smell with no obvious puddle. We pressure test to confirm, replace the module, and fill with VW-spec coolant, all in your driveway.

Coolant flanges and cooling plastics

Beyond the pump module, VWs of every generation route coolant through plastic flanges and housings that turn brittle — a two-decade VW pattern that Austin heat accelerates. Rather than chasing top-offs, we pressure test the system, find the actual cracked part, and replace it with coolant to spec.

Coil packs and sudden misfires

The classic VW failure: the car runs perfectly, then one morning it's shaking with a flashing check-engine light. Coil pack failures on VW four-cylinders have been common for twenty years. We diagnose which cylinder is missing, replace the failed coil — or the full set with plugs on a higher-mileage engine, your call with both numbers in front of you — and clear the codes properly.

Brakes, including electronic parking brakes

Newer VWs run electronic parking brakes that need a scan tool in service mode before rear pads come off — done wrong, it damages the caliper motors. We do pads, rotors, and fluid on all VWs, EPB service included, measured and quoted flat before we start.

Suspension bushings on Austin pavement

Higher-mileage Jettas, Golfs, and Passats develop the front-end sloppiness of worn control arm bushings and sway bar links — a clunk over the patched pavement South of the river, vague steering on Mopac. We inspect, show you what's actually worn, and replace it at your house.

Pricing

Upfront flat-rate quotes

Upfront flat-rate quotes before any work begins — you approve the total price, not an hourly meter. Our European labor rate applies to Volkswagen work — the specialty tools, spec fluids, and coding equipment these vehicles require are part of the job. Either way, the quote comes first and the total doesn't move after you approve it. No shop overhead, no waiting room, no shuttle.

Reviews

What customers say

Griff and Max are amazing mechanics. Honest and hard working. Prices are fair and competitive. They let me know if it's a job I can do, as well. That's an honesty you don't find often anymore. I would recommend them any day of the week. Plus they come to YOU.

He showed up quickly, checked out my car, and figured out the problem right away. It turned out to be a throttle body issue, and he explained everything clearly and shared a detailed report with fair, reasonable pricing.

Questions

Common questions about mobile Volkswagen repair

How much does mobile Volkswagen repair cost in Austin?

Our European labor rate applies to VW work, and every job is an upfront flat-rate quote — you approve the total price before any work begins, not an hourly meter.

My VW has a coolant warning but I can't find a leak — what is it?

Classic VW. Usually the water pump/thermostat module on 2.0T engines or an aging plastic flange. We pressure test to find the real source and replace only the failed part.

Do you use VW-spec oil and coolant?

Yes — correct VW oil specs and coolant, not shelf-generic. On these engines the spec is the difference between maintenance and slow damage.

Can every VW repair be done mobile?

The high-frequency work — cooling, coils, brakes, batteries, AC, suspension wear items, diagnostics — is accessible and we do it on-site. For major internal work — head gaskets, timing jobs, exhaust, and internal engine or transmission repair — we'll refer you to a shop equipped for it.

What Volkswagen models do you service?

Tiguan, Atlas, Jetta, Golf and GTI, Passat, Taos, Beetle, CC, and Touareg. TDI diesels for accessible work too. ID.4 for brakes, suspension, 12-volt battery, and AC.

Can you come today?

Often, yes. Call (512) 910-5935 or book at acmeautoworks.com/book — Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm, home or office.
