Mobile Car Diagnostics
A check engine light doesn't tell you what it'll cost — a real diagnostic does. We come to your car and give you the full picture, in writing.
The service
What we do
When a warning light comes on, most drivers do one of two things: ignore it or panic. The right answer is to diagnose it — but that usually means dropping the car off at a shop and waiting for a callback you may not get until end of day. ACME Autoworks handles it differently.
We come to your location with professional OBD-II scanning equipment, oscilloscopes, and a complete set of diagnostic tools. We pull codes, test live sensor data, and investigate the root cause — not just read the top code and guess.
After the diagnostic, you get a clear written report of what we found, what caused it, and what it'll cost to fix. No pressure, no upsell — just honest information so you can make the right call.
Process
How it works at your location
Describe the symptoms
Tell us what lights are on, what sounds you're hearing, and how the car is driving. We use that to guide the diagnostic.
On-site scan and inspection
We connect to your vehicle's OBD port, pull all stored and pending codes, and run live data tests for the affected systems.
Written report and recommendation
You get a clear breakdown of what's wrong and what's needed to fix it — from us, not a service writer who's never touched your car.
Warning signs
Signs you need this service
Check engine light, traction control, or ABS warning is on
Rough idle or the engine is misfiring
Poor fuel economy with no obvious cause
Car hesitates or stumbles under acceleration
You just bought a used car and want to know what you're dealing with
Why mobile
Why mobile beats the shop for this service
Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, then apply it to the repair — but only if you have the repair done there. With ACME, the diagnostic is the job. We're not trying to upsell you into a service visit. We come to you, do the diagnostic properly, give you the report, and you decide what happens next. It's one honest transaction.

FAQ
Common questions
Can you diagnose my car at home or at work?
Yes — diagnosis is one of the best use cases for mobile service. We come to your location with full diagnostic equipment.
What's the difference between a code read and a real diagnostic?
A code read tells you which system triggered a fault. A real diagnostic investigates why — testing sensors, checking live data, and confirming the root cause before recommending a repair.
My check engine light is flashing — is that different from steady?
Yes. A flashing check engine light indicates an active misfire that could damage the catalytic converter. It's more urgent than a steady light. Drive carefully and book soon.
Do you clear the codes after the diagnostic?
We clear codes if the underlying issue has been repaired. If not, we'll explain what the codes mean and leave them for your records.
My car passed inspection last month — why is the check engine light on now?
Codes can appear at any time based on driving conditions, component wear, or sensor failure. A diagnostic will determine exactly when and why the fault occurred.
